A home for amba
Before Café Amba was even an idea, we had already come across what felt like the right space for our vision—a place where we could fully express ourselves and explore our ideas around food, hospitality, and connection.
Community is a word used often, but at its core lies something very simple: a human longing to feel connected. This is what we find so beautiful about hospitality—not the food or drinks alone, but the quiet, meaningful moments that emerge when people gather, share a space, and sit together.
We first viewed this potential home in March 2025 and fell in love with it immediately. The restaurant that stands there today has been run by the same owners for 29 years—something we find special in itself. Throughout 2025, we stayed in touch and waited patiently for the them to be ready to move forward with the sale of their business.
That pause gave us the space to test our ideas, connect with the local community in a genuine and beautiful way, and allow the fuller concept of Café Amba to reveal itself. These experiences shaped our vision into something we believe can become a unique addition to the city—rooted in our core motivation of connection.
During this time, we also raised part of the required capital and gained the confidence that what we are building has real value to offer the social landscape of the city.
Investment alternatives
With part of the investment secured, we are now exploring ways to raise the remaining funds needed to take over the business, renovate the space, and realise the concept in its entirety.
In the coming period, we will begin talks again to finalise the takeover. Speaking with a bank is one of the paths we are exploring. Alongside this, we have also opened a GoFundMe campaign—an invitation for anyone who feels moved to help us realise the project.
